Magnesium stearate

(1) Formula：Mg(C17H35COO)2

(2) Properties: Magnesium stearate is white powder, non-toxic, tasteless and non-flammable. Insoluble in water and ether,soluble in hot ethanol, easily decomposed by dilute acid.

(3) Magnesium stearate is mainly used as lubricant release agent for tablets. It can also be used as a cosmetic accessory and Calcium and zinc soaps used as stabilizers for polyvinyl chloride and as drying agents for paints.
